The Some Like It Hot actor has died aged 85.

Tony Curtis, star of The Defiant Ones, Sweet Smell Of Success and Some Like It Hot, has died aged 85, of a cardiac arrest.

Curtis was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award in 1958 for his performance as a racist convict in Stanley Kramer’s 1958 drama The Defiant Ones alongside Sydney Poitier.

The following year, he donned women’s clothing to star alongside Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon in Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot.

He starred in over 140 films during his career.

His first wife was Psycho actress Janet Leigh, with whom he had daughter Jamie Leigh Curtis. Curtis went on to marry five more times.
