Training Day director Antoine Fuqua and producing partner Kat Samick team with film financing, sales and distribution firm.

IM Global has signed a production partnership with Antoine Fuqua’s Fuqua Films.

Under the pact, the Los Angeles-based production, financing and sales company will develop, produce and finance feature projects alongside Fuqua and his producing partner Kat Samick, as well as providing the firm with business affairs and back-office support.

Fuqua, whose latest thriller The Equalizer received its world premiere in Toronto last night, said of IM Global: “They are producing the most exciting projects in the business right now and their enthusiasm and great taste make them the ideal collaborators for us.”

Fuqua’s best known features include Training Day, Broolyn’s Finest and Olympus Has Fallen, while his upcoming features include boxing drama Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

IM Global CEO Stuard Ford said:  “Antoine is such a great creative force whose career is going from strength to strength and we look forward to helping him and Kat take their company to the next level as a production powerhouse”.

IM Global is in post-production on three self-financed pics: action thriller Autobahn, directed by Eran Creevy and starring Nicholas Hoult; contagion thriller Viral, directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joust; and supernatural thriller Incarnate, starring Aaron Eckhart and directed by Brad Peyton, co-financed with Blumhouse.

The company is also in active pre-production on Billy Ray’s The Secret In Their Eyes, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Roberts.

The deal was brokered by CAA. Attorney Wendy Kirk of Ziffren Brittenham represented Fuqua Films whilst Head of Business Affairs Deborah Zipser and Production President Matt Jackson negotiated on behalf of IM Global.
