Korea’s Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) has announced the It Project market selection with 21 genre film projects.

Part of PiFan’s Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) initiative, the project market’s line-up includes Man On The Edge and My Wife Is A Gangster director Jo Jin-kyu’s thriller, The Shadow Zone.

Organizers report a total of 156 projects from 24 countries were submitted.

Other notables include Like, from the Korean horror film screenwriter Son Kwang Soo (Cinderella); Yubari fantastic film fest Grand Prix winner Lisa Takeba’s fantasy feature Haruko’s Paranormal Laboratory; and Dev Benegal’s Dead End, which won the NAFF Award at this year’s Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF).

The line-up also includes 2012 NAFF Fantastic Film School alumni Cheuk-Pan Ben Lee directing and Flora Goh producing the Hong Kong-Singapore crime thriller Games of Suspects.

It Project participants will meet with potential financiers and co-producers as well as compete for different cash and post-production awards.

Coming to a total of 138 projects from 21 countries in the past seven editions, previous It Project selections have been made into films such as hit thriller The Terror Live and critically acclaimed animation The King Of Pigs.

The 18th PiFan will run July 17-27 in the city of Bucheon (which adheres to the most recent Romanization of its Korean name, while PiFan keeps using “Puchon”, the last iteration).

NAFF will run July 20-23 at the Koryo Hotel, Bucheon.
