Third screenwriters’ lecture series to take place during Sept 26-Oct 27.

Abi Morgan [pictured] and Peter Straughan have been announced as two of the five screenwriters set to give lectures at the third annual BAFTA and BFI screenwriters’ lecture series.

Morgan closes the series on Oct 27, while Straughan speaks at the BFI Southbank on Oct 24. Julian Fellowes (Sept 26), Scott Frank (Oct 1) and Brian Helgeland (Oct 26) are the other screenwriters taking part in the series.

The series was programmed by screenwriter and BAFTA Film Committee member Jeremy Brock and is funded by JJ Charitable Trust, one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts.

Brock commented: “We want to celebrate some of the best writers in the industry and also champion screenwriters as collaborative authors of films, rather than simply as adjuncts of the director’s vision. A film is not a singular piece of work, but a true collaboration.”
