Shanna Winters has joined the Motion Picture Association Of America (MPAA) as senior vp of global policy.

Winters will report to Michael O’Leary, senior evp of global policy and external affairs.

Prior to joining the MPPA she served for eight years as a member of staff in the US House Of Representatives and most recently as Democratic chief counsel for the house committee on foreign relations. She was also staff director for the house judiciary subcommittee for courts, the internet and intellectual property.

“As studios place increasingly greater emphasis on markets around the world, Shanna will prove to be an invaluable member of our team,” said MPAA chairman and CEO Chris Dodd, who established the global policy operation in 2011 in Washington DC. “She will be instrumental in helping us chart a successful course in the years ahead.”
