The Mumbai Film Festival is partnering with the UK’s Abbey Road Studios and Bohemia Junction to launch a Music Composers Lab during this year’s edition of the festival (October 17-24).

The three-day Lab (Oct 21-23) will be held in the high-tech audio wing of the Yash Raj Film Studios in Andheri, Mumbai.

Also held in association with PRS For Music UK, it aims to offer up-and-coming Indian composers the opportunity to interact with professional composers and film and music industry experts from the UK and India.

The first two days will comprise film scoring sessions, followed by an interview and audience Q&A with award-winning UK composer Ilan Eshkeri and the Lab’s other creative advisors on October 23.

Eshkeri’s film credits include 47 Ronin, Coriolanus, Stardust, The Young Victoria and Kick-Ass and he has also collaborated with Coldplay, Annie Lennox and Take That. He won best original score for Stardust at the International Film Music Critics Association awards.

Abbey Road Studios is a London-based recording studio associated with The Beatles, which is represented in India by Bohemia Junction. PRS Music represents the rights of songwriters, composers and music publishers.

The Mumbai film festival is also launching an “Indian Project Room” to showcase Indian work-in-progress films to international sales agents, buyers and festival programmers. The initiative will be held during the Mumbai Film Mart (October 18-20).
