Online streaming service Netflix has announced the Netherlands as its next new market, with a late 2013 launch on the cards.

Details of price points and content have yet to be disclosed.

Netflix now operates in 40 countries, including the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and a host of countries within Latin America.

More than 7 million of the service’s 36 million total subscribers are from international markets.

A company statement said: “Upon launch, broadband Internet users in the Netherlands can subscribe to Netflix and instantly watch Hollywood, local and global TV series and films, including critically-acclaimed Netflix Original Series such as House of Cards and Arrested Development whenever and wherever they like on tablets, phones, TVs, game consoles and computers.”
