UK distributor Network Releasing has picked up UK rights to Cannes competition entry Heli, which won Amat Escalante the Best Director award at the festival.

The drama charts the violent fallout when a Mexican family crosses the corrupt local police force.

Commenting on the deal Network’s managing director Tim Beddows said: “We are delighted to have acquired Heli, one of the most talked about films at Cannes and look forward to building a relationship with one of the Spanish speaking world’s most promising filmmakers”.

Network acquired the film from sales out NDM.
