Nu Image has boarded all international rights to the 3D thriller Dark Country and will commence sales in Cannes.

Thomas Jane, who starred in The Punisher and Stander, directed and stars in the tale of newlyweds who find themselves on a nightmarish ride along a lonely stretch of Nevada highway.

Ron Perlman and Lauren German round out the key cast. Patrick Aiello and Ashok Amritraj produced the feature and Tab Murphy wrote the screenplay.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group holds North American rights for the Stage 6 Films production and plans a theatrical release through a third party.

“We’re really excited for this unique opportunity to bring a fully realised and commercial 3D movie to the independent marketplace,” Nu Image president of international sales Christian Mercuri said.
