Other Angle takes Golan-Globus Cannes title

Paris-based sales company Other Angle has acquired international rights to Hilla Medalia’s documentary The Go-Go Boys, which is set to premiere in Cannes Classics.

The film is a personal account of Israeli producers Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, and their pursuit of the Hollywood dream, featuring the participation of both.

It tells the inside story of how the Israeli cousins created the prolific independent studio the Cannon Group, producing 300 films with the likes of Jean Claude Van Damme and Charles Brosnon as well as Jean-Luc Godard, Barbet Schroeder and Franco Zeffirelli

The documentary features interviews with Brosnon, Zeffirelli, Andrey Konchalovskiy and Sylvester Stallone among others.

It is not confirmed yet whether Golan or Globus, whose oversized posters and deals drafted on napkins on the Carlton terrace are the stuff of Cannes legend, will be in attendance at the festival screening.

Medalia’s previous work Dancing in Jaffa, about a ballroom dance teacher working with Israeli and Palestinian children, sold to a number of territories including France (Pretty Pictures) and the US (Sundance Selects).
