The 24th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) is to present two-time Oscar-winning actress Sally Field with its career achievement award.

The festival’s awards gala will be held Jan 5. Hosted by Mary Hart, the gala will also present awards to previously announced honourees the cast of Argo, Helen Hunt, Naomi Watts and Robert Zemeckis.

“From her all-American girl roles that brought her early stardom on television to her memorable and award-winning film performances, Sally Field has impressed generations of audiences with her incredible range,” said PSIFF chairman Harold Matzner.

“In her latest film, Lincoln, Field takes on the challenging role of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln and gives a compelling performance as one of history’s most iconic women.
