The film sales and theatrical booking agent and grand-daughter of Run Run Shaw died on Friday night (August 15) at her home in Calabasas, California, following a long illness. She was 52.

Mayer, whose father was the late philanthropist Paul Loo, began her career in the industry in 1984 as a Booker for UA Theaters in 1984.

In 2006 she launched Wildcat Releasing and distributed such films as Tortilla Heaven.

“I do not think there is anyone who could not like Pam, she really was a ‘Wildcat’ in her approach to life and the energy she put into the marketing and distribution of films,” said long-time associate and business partner TC Rice.

“Pam was the most generous-hearted and giving person I have ever had the privilege to know,” said Nigel Sarrag, a close friend. “We were best friends. She was always there when you needed a friend.

“She had a smile and a kind word for everyone and her acceptance of people was astonishing. She will be missed not only for her fabulous laugh and sense of humour but for the amazingly compassionate person she truly was.”

Mayer was born on December 27, 1961. She is survived by her mother Violet Loo and daughters Alana and Kalei Mayer.
