UK distributor launches fund, picks up Nicole Conn drama.

UK distributor Peccadillo Pictures and film finance consultancy Authentic Film Group are to launch an LGBT film fund.

The EIS fund will look to support LGBT genre films through production and distribution support.

Tom Abell and Kahloon Loke of LGBT specialist Peccadillo said: “There have been cases recently where demand for suitable quality LGBT genre films has outstripped available supply.

“We’ve been working with and nurturing relationships with many fantastic filmmakers over the years who are keen to tell often very real LGBT stories to our audiences both in the UK and internationally.

“Never has the time been better to create a concerted drive focussed on the financing for films of this genre. Authentic has a great track record of helping structure film financing arrangements over the years, so this seems the perfect partnership.”

Adam Betteridge of Authentic added: “LGBT rights have arguably never been higher up the mainstream political agenda. As the diverse LGBT communities gather in strength and prosperity internationally, supported by their friends and allies, they increasingly embody an emerging and active consumer market for the film industry.

Separately, Peccadillo has pre-bought UK rights to Nicole Conn’s (Little Man) Nesting Doll, in which the lives of a senator and a complex FBI agent collide to expose long buried secrets.

Barbara Niven (A Perfect Ending) will star.

An investment group has pledged matching funds up to £250,000 raised during the 50-day crowd-sourcing campaign.
