Belgian financier Creative Wallonia and Wallimage CrossMedia join as sponsors of the annual cross-media workshop.

Power to the Pixel (PttP) has announced a new European partnership for the 2013 edition of its cross-media workshop, The Pixel Lab.

Belgian financier Creative Wallonia and Wallimage CrossMedia have joined MEDIA, Creative Skillset and TorinoFilmLab as sponsors, all of whom are partnering for the fourth consecutive year.

The Pixel Lab offers delegates a six-day residential workshop in the south of Belgium, followed by distance mentoring with Liz Rosenthal and Tishna Molla, heads of PttP, as well as pitch presentation training and attendance at PttP’s Cross-Media Forum that takes place at the BFI in London in October, for producers and IP owners attending with a project.

Experts at this year’s The Pixel Lab include Michel Reilhac, artistic advisor at the Venice Biennale college, Nuno Bernardo, CEO beActive, Adam Sigel, content strategist, writer & producer, and Inga von Staden, media architect & educator.

Rosenthal commented: “We’re delighted that Wallimage has lent its support to this year’s Pixel Lab. Wallimage has supported content creators and developers for a number of years, offering this increasingly important industry the ability to fund a variety of innovative projects across many different platforms.”

Philippe Reynaert, director of Wallimage CrossMedia, added: “It’s a real chance for us to welcome The Pixel Lab just two years after the launch of Wallimage CrossMedia. This amazing workshop which was attended last year by our coproduction manager, will be a stepping stone towards international recognition of the Walloon creative industries supported by Creative Wallonia.”

Previous graduates from The Pixel Lab include Benjamin Faivre with Anarchy, winner of the MIP Content360 prize last year, Lena Thiele with multi-award winning project Farewell Comrades and Emilie Blézat with Les Fleurs du Mal, which was later selected for the Tribeca Film Festival. Marc Boothe, who was joint winner of The Pixel Lab prize in 2011 with his project The Elders, will showcase his work at the Liverpool Biennial this year.
