New productions from France, Spain and Germany can be found on Screenbase, including Livide, Grupo 7 and Halt Auf Freier Strecke.

A young nurse and her two best friends burgle a bed-bound elderly lady’s house in Brittany to find a treasure in Julien Maury’s and Alexandre Bustillo’s co-directed fantasy horror film, which wrapped shooting last week (November 12) across France. Verane Frediani and Franck Ribiere are producing for La Fabrique 2. Livide is the second feature film for the directors, who also wrote the screenplay. The cast includes Catherine Jacob, Béatrice Dalle, Marie-Claude Pietragalla, Chloé Coulloud and Felix Moati. Fabrique will release the film in the second half of 2011, with SND selling internationally. 

Alberto Rodriguez is preparing the shoot, scheduled for next spring, on Grupo 7. An Atípica Films and La Zanfoña Producciones co-production, the $4m drama follows a police unit who tackles drugs and prostitution in downtown Seville before the 1992 International Expo. Rodriguez co-wrote the screenplay with Rafael Cobos. As of yet Antonio De La Torre and Mario Casas have been confirmed in the lead roles. No distributor or international sales agents have been announced but the tentative release date is February 2012.

Halt Auf Freier Strecke is one of the latest productions by Rommel Film with Pter Rommel as producer. This improvised drama, in the style of Grill Point, is directed and scripted by Andreas Dresen. It’s still shooting in and around Berlin until January, with Steffi Kühnert and Milan Peschel starring. Financial backing has been provided by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the German Federal Film Board (FFA).

German actor-director Detlef Buck will commence with the shoot of his next feature Women In Love at the end of next month in Berlin and Hamburg. The comedy focus is on an actor who is unintentionally offered a high-profile female part in a Hollywood movie but decides to accept it anyway. Anika Decker wrote the script and Film1 is producing. Alexandra Maria Lara (Control) and Matthias Schweighoefer (Rabbit Without Ears) are among the cast. The $1m production has received funding from Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and German Federal Film Board (FFA).
