The feature adaptation about a real life skiing incident in Russia will be directed by Simon Fellows and financed by Future Films.

Future Film Group’s production arm 2B Pictures is to make a feature version of Alan K Baker’s book Dyatlov Pass.

Andy Briggs will adapt the screenplay, which will be based on the real life unsolved story of nine students who died whilst ski hiking in the Ural Mountains in 1959. The event caused controversy with speculation that it involved paranormal activity or a military cover up.

It will be directed by Malice In Wonderland director Simon Fellows.

Stephen Margolis’ London and LA based Future Film Group will finance the film, which is due to shoot summer 2012 in Eastern Europe.

Future Films’ recent co-production credits have included Cracks, Flawless and Fifty Dead Men Walking.
