South Korea producer-distributor Ssamzie Entertainment has sold a $500,000 equity stake in up coming heist film Insadong Scandal to Prince Asset Management (PAM).

Ssamzie Entertainment is producing the film for roughly $2.8m, with p&a costs yet to be announced.

Insadong Scandal (working title) stars actor Kim Rae-won from My Little Bride, whose popularity in Japan and Taiwan is said to have prompted the recent investment from Hong Kong, alongside Uhm Jung-hwa, best known for her sexy smart performance in Marriage Is A Crazy Thing.

Named after the traditional arts and antiques district in Seoul, Insadong Scandal follows the criminal mystery that happens when a bigwig art dealer (played by Uhm) commissions a restoration and reproduction expert (played by Kim) to work on a 400-year-old painting everyone in the art world is after.

With a host of scheming characters, twists, action and comedy elements, the producer claims Insadong Scandalwill be a Korean film reminiscent of Ocean’s Eleven.

The film is directed by Park Hee-gon, previously producer of adventure film R U Ready? SK Telecom is set to distribute the film locally, starting April 29.
