Dutch star Barry Atsma [pictured] has taken the lead role in In Your Name, the second in Marco Van Geffen’s Vinex trilogy which began with last year’s festival hit Among Us.
Atsma and Elise Schaap will play a happy young couple whose relationship and lives go off the rails when their firstborn dies.
The Dutch Film Fund has committed to invest in the film which is being produced by Lemming Film in The Netherlands. Titus Kreyenberg of UNA Film is on board as German co-producer.
Van Geffen is hoping to close finance at Cannes where the project has been selected for l’Atelier de Cinefondation. Shooting is scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
Atsma became popular after hit TV series Scent Of Roses And Vodka Lime and the US series Battlestar Galactica; his film credits include Taped, Stricken, The Storm, the Dutch remake of Loft and the upcoming Quiz, directed by Dick Maas.
Among Us had its world premiere in competition at the Locarno Film Festival last year and went on to play at Toronto and Hong Kong among other festivals. It followed a Polish au pair in a small town in Holland juggling the stresses of her job with the threat of a serial killer.
