Joe Mazzello’s debut feature tells the personal story of his brother’s experience as a star college baseball player.

James Belushi, Chace Crawford and Aaron Tveit [pictured] are among the cast announced for Joe Mazzello’s debut feature Undrafted.

Written by Mazzello (who also stars), Undrafted tells the personal story of his brother’s experience as a star college baseball player who, thought scouted, was ultimately never drafted.

The film also marks Gossip Girl star Crawford’s debut as an executive producer.

Other cast announced includes Matt Barr, Tyler Hoechlin, Manna Montana, Philip Winchester and Billy Gardell.

Mazzello commented: “I watched for 15 years as my brother worked tirelessly to make his dream come true only to see it never happen and it was heartbreaking. During that time I saw the love he and his teammates had for each other and for the game that is the heart of our story.”

Undrafted was produced by Eric Fischer and Brianna Johnson under their Dead Fish Films label, and the film was privately funded.

“This is a powerful story that will really resonate with anyone who’s ever had a dream, you don’t have to be a baseball fan to relate,” added Fischer.
