Boyfriend flirts with Italian remake
Guido Rud’s FilmSharks International continues to do strong business from its remakes division that was launched three years ago.
Italian-language remake rights to A Boyfriend For My Wife (a hit across Latin America for Buena Vista and planned for a US remake with Steve Carrell) have gone to Paolo Ansaldi’s Paco Pictures, with French and Portuguese deals being negotiated. The plot follows a timid man who wants to get out of his marriage by arranging for his wife to fall in love with another man.
FilmSharks has taken exclusive remake rights on Good Life Delivery (Buena Vida Delivery) by Leonardo Di Cesare. The original film has been sold by Wild Bunch in more than 30 territories. US producers are circling English-language remake rights on the story of a girl looking for a rich boyfriend to house her whole family.
Other titles FilmSharks are offering for remake are Chance (aka A Ransom For My Boss), from Panama-Colombia, about two maids who kidmap a rich family that hasn’t paid their salaries; Brazilian hit Sex Shop Inc. (De Pernas Pro Ar), about a woman who becomes a sex toy executive; Spain’s popular Torrente franchise rights that are now in negotiations with a German studio; and Spain’s Unresolved Sexual Tension set to close for remakes in Brazil and the US.
