The project will be directed by Alexander Shein and will explore the life of Russian poet and artist Vladimir Mayakovsky.

Roskino has announced a new project to be produced by Good Bye Lenin actress Chulpan Khamatova, who also stars in the film.

The new project was unveiled in the Russian Pavilion in Cannes at an industry event designed to encourage co-production partnerships.

Directed and co-written by Alexander Shein the film will explore the life of Russian poet and artist, Vladimir Mayakovsky, who was shot on April 14th, 1930 in Moscow. Supermodel Natalya Vodyanova will also star.

Principal photography is slated for the end of 2012 with locations including Russia, Ukraine, France, the US, Hungary and Canada. It will be scheduled for released in 2014.

Catherine Mtsitouridze, managing director of Roskino sad the focus of the company was to “bring international awareness to Russian cinema.”

“We are excited to announce Mayakovsky as part of an exciting collaboration with some of Russia’s most established and upcoming talent,” she added.
