Mexican director Ernesto Contreras is to direct I dream In Another Language based on an original story by his brother Carlos Contreras.

The script was awarded the Sundance Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award last year and takes place in New York and Veracruz as an ambitious young American linguist tries to save a mythical language.

The project was developed at the Sundance Screenwriters Lab with support of MEDIA. Netherlands-based Revolver is producing the feature and executives have attended Cannes to meet potential partners ahead of a proposed 2014 shoot.

Contreras’ debut Blue Eyelids premiered at Sundance 2008 where it was awarded the World Cinema Special Jury Prize.
