The studio confirmed recent reports that the director of Lars And The Real Girl and the upcoming Fright Night remake has signed on for Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.

Seth Graham-Smith adapted Jane Austen’s classic and turned it into a period monster thriller that inspired a spate of literary bastardisations.

Natalie Portman is producing the film through her handsomecharlie films with Annette Savitch, who arranged for Darko Entertainment to acquire the rights from publisher Quirk Books.

Darko’s Richard Kelly, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm will also produce, while Lionsgate production chief Alli Shearmur and svp of production Jim Miller are overseeing for the studio.

Lionsgate will retain worldwide distribution rights. The studio’s evp of business and legal affairs Robert Melnik brokered the deal.
