Sam Englebardt, Michael Lambert and William D Johnson’s new financier has boarded Anton Corbijn’s (pictured) contemporary spy thriller. FilmNation is handling international sales.

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe and Robin Wright are set to star in the Hamburg-set story of a mysterious half-Chechen, half-Russian fugitive and heir to a fortune who attracts the attention of a covert German spy unit.

Andrew Bovell adapted the screenplay for A Most Wanted Man from the John le Carré novel. Gail Egan and Andrea Calderwood will produce through Potboiler Productions alongside Stephen and Simon Cornwell from Ink Factory.  Johnson and Englebardt will serve as executive producers alongside Tessa Ross of Film4 and le Carré. FIlm4 and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenberg are the other financiers.

Demarest recently boarded IM Global and Reliance Big’s corporate in-production espionage thriller Paranoia as co-financier and co-producer. Relativity will release in the US on Sept 27, 2013.

Demarest’s slate includes Toronto world premiere Byzantium from Neil Jordan, David Rosenthal’s A Single Shot starring Sam Rockwell and the pairing of Michelle Monaghan and Michael Keaton in psychological thriller Penthouse North, which The Weinstein Company will distribute in the US.
