The Hunt and Submarino writer Tobias Lindholm has written thriller with Jonas T Bengtsson; principal photography on $3.7m project to get underway in late summer; The Match Factory handles sales.
Danish Dogme director Søren Kragh-Jacobsen, who most recently directed What No One Knows (Det som ingen ved/, 2008), will later this summer (Sept 24) start principal photography for The Hour of the Lynx (I lossens time), a psychological thriller from an original story by Swedish author Per Olov Enquist.
Danish actresses Sofie Grabol, of The Killing fame, will star with Signe Egholm Olsen (Borgen/Government) in the $3.7 million (DKK 22 million) movie, which will shoot on the Danish isle of Funen with a visit to Northern Sweden from a script by Danish writers Jonas T Bengtsson and Tobias Lindholm (Submarino).
Gråbøl plays a vicar, who is looked up by a scientific researcher (Olsen) with a problem. She runs an experiment at a locked institution, helping violent, traumatised inmates by giving them the responsibility for pet animals.
One of them, who has murdered an elderly couple, has been closely devoted to a cat, until one day he kills it and tries to commit suicide. The vicar offers her help, but her voyage into his wounded soul will change her life forever.
The Danish-Swedish co-production of The Hour of the Lynx will be staged by Lars Bredo Rahbek, for Denmark’s Nimbus Film, with Sweden’s Bob Film, in collaboration with national broadcasters DR (Denmark), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland), Canal+, support from the Danish and Swedish Film Institutes.
One of the original Dogme signatories, Kragh-Jacobsen’s Mifune (Mifunes sidste sang/, 1999) won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The Hour of the Lynx, Kragh-Jacobsen’s 11th feature film will be launched domestically on May 23, 2013, by SF Film; Germany’s The Match Factory handles international sales.
