Emmett/Furla and Freedom Films strike three-film deal with Palo Verde

Emmett/Furla Films and Freedom Films have struck a three-film production and financing deal with hedge fund Palo Verde.

First up is the drama Touchback, which is described as It’s A Wonderful Life meets Friday Night Lights and tells of a former high school football star who recalls the injury that ended his career.

Writer-director Don Handfield will make his feature debut and the film will star Brian Presley (pictured), who is also producing with Lisa Kearns, Shannon Gardner, Derek Beumer, Kevin Matusow and Carissa Buffel-Matusow of Freedom Films and George Furla and Randall Emmett of Emmett/Furla Films. Executive producers on the project are Rob Cowan, Adam Griffin and Ryan Bundra.

Palo Verde was founded in 2008 by Paul Ross and Tony Stacy and will finance the three films.

Emmett/Furla Films and Freedom Films previously teamed up on Irwin Winkler’s Home Of The Brave that was released through MGM, Lionsgate’s Borderland starring Presley, and most recently on Once Fallen starring Presley, Taraji P Henson, Ed Harris and Amy Madigan.

“We have had a great partnership on our previous films together and we believe Brian Presley has an incredible amount of talent and look forward to our next three films together,” Furla said.
