Beijing-based media group Enlight Media has appointed a management team for its film production and distribution subsidiary Enlight Pictures, and announced a slate of 10 films to be produced later this year.

Enlight Media’s Vice President Li Xiaoping will take the post as president of Enlight Pictures, while Hong Kong producer, scriptwriter and chairman of Hong Kong Scriptwriters Guild Abe Kwang will be vice-president and head of film production. Enlight’s distribution executive Xu Lin has been appointed vice president of international cooperation.

Former Enlight Pictures CEO Zhang Zhao left the company in March and joined online media LeTV.com and LeVision Pictures.

In addition to announcing the new management team, Enlight Media chairman Wang Changtian also announced Enlight Pictures’ 2011 slate in Shanghai today during the 14th Shanghai International Film Festival.

This includes five films to be distributed in late 2011 and 10 new productions.

The new releases are Gordon Chan’s fantasy drama The Mural, starring Sun Li and Collin Chou; Jingle Ma’s Speed Angel, about the story of woman car racers, starring Tang Wei, Cecilia Cheung and Rene Liu; Gao Qunshu’s romantic drama A Sentimental Story; Hong Kong Universe’s Oxide Pang 3D horror picture Sleepwalker; and another Gordon Chan martial arts film, The Four Detectives, starring Ronald Cheng, Anthony Wong and Liu Yifei.

Among the 10 new productions are a Yuen Wo-ping (True Legend) martial arts action film tentatively titled The Legend of Wutang. Also, Ding Sheng (Big Soldiers, He-Man) will direct contemporary crime thriller The Negotiator; Zhang Jiarui, director of Red River, will take on his first romantic comedy tentatively titled The Lemon Tree; Ma Liwen will direct an adventure comedy set in Dubai about three good friends; and Zhou Jingzhi, writer of Zhang Yimou’s Riding Along For Thousands Of Miles, will direct an Indiana Jones-type adventure drama tentatively titled the Imperial Treasure. Also, Wang said Enlight Pictures has also been developing an English-speaking fantasy adventure tentatively titled The 108 Devils.
