eOne to co-finance David Cronenberg’s Map to the Stars, which is due to shoot in July starring Julianne Moore, Robert Pattinson, John Cusack and Sarah Gadon.

eOne Films International will handle world sales and directly distribute in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia/NZ. Co-financiers are Martin Katz’s Prospero Pictures.

Production will begin this July in Toronto and Los Angeles.

The original screenplay by Los Angeles author and screenwriter Bruce Wagner is described as a “haunting ghost story and a scathing attack on the celebrity-obsessed society of LA”.

The film is being produced by Prospero Pictures’ Martin Katz together with SBS Productions’ Saïd Ben Saïd. Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab, Cronenberg’s manager, will executive produce. Integral Films’ Alfred Hurmer is co-producing.

eOne’s Benedict Carver is executive producing and will oversee the film for the studio.

Katz previously collaborated with Cronenberg on Spider, A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis and was executive producer of Hotel Rwanda. Ben Said produced Carnage and Possession.

Tab was executive producer on Cosmopolis and brought both A History Of Violence and Eastern Promises to Cronenberg while representing him as an agent at ICM.
