The Los Angeles-based Epic has partnered with Norway’s Yesbox Productions to finance and produce an English-language sequel to the Scandinavian fantasy thriller. Separately, Osiris Entertainment has come on board to sell The Kill Hole.
Writer-director Aleksander Nordaas will reprise his role on the project and Epic co-founders Patrick Ewald and Shaked Berenson are producing with Bendik Heggen Strønstad of Yesbox Productions.
Thale screened at SXSW and Toronto last year and centred on the mysterious appearance of a mythological woodland creature at the scene of a crime in a concealed cellar.
“Ever since we screened Thale in Toronto and released it in the US, there’s been a continuous stream of inquiries from fans, eager to know if there will ever be a sequel,” said Nordaas. “Teaming up with Epic Pictures Group, we’re finally able to announce that yes, there will be. In English for an international audience. And let’s just say that this time, Thale will be facing some very different kind of animals.”

“From the moment we saw the film at SXSW in 2012, we were taken by the film and its powerful vision and knew that we needed to work with Aleksander and Bendik and help to get their next project produced and financed,” said Berenson.
- Osiris Entertainment will launch international sales in Cannes on war drama The Kill Hole starring Chadwick Boseman, Billy Zanes and Tory Kittles. The story centres on a troubled Iraq War veteran who is assigned to track down a former sniper who has gone AWOL in the mountains of Oregon.
