Focus Features and Random House Films are developing the adventure thriller The Tiger. Guillermo Arriaga is adapting the screenplay for producer Darren Aronofsky and his Protozoa Pictures from John Vaillant’s upcoming nonfiction book The Tiger: A True Story Of Vengeance And Survival.

Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment will also produce the feature version and Focus Features holds worldwide rights. The book will be published by Random House imprint Knopf on August 24 and takes place in Siberia where a conservationist game warden confronts an endangered tiger that has been attacking humans.

Aronofsky will produce with Protozoa partners Protozoa’s Mark Heyman and Ari Handel and Plan B’s Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner and Pitt. The producers are currently out to directors.

Focus senior vice-president of production Kahli Small is supervising the project with Focus director of production Matthew Plouffe for Focus Features president of production John Lyons and Valerie Cates, the executive story editor at Random House Films.
