EXCLUSIVE: HBO is returning to Belfast for a third series of its award winning fantasy series Game Of Thrones; the production will be based at the city’s Paint Hall studio, taking advantage of its two new sound stages.
HBO has confirmed that it will be returning to Northern Ireland to shoot the third season of its Emmy and Golden Globe winning medieval fantasy series Game Of Thrones.
HBO chose to base the production of the first two seasons in Belfast and will be returning to Northern Ireland for a third series, with funding from Northern Ireland Screen.
Shooting will take place in Belfast’s Paint Hall studio and its new sound stages, as well as at the Linien Mill Film Studios just outside the city and in various locations across Northern Ireland.
Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, the second series began its ten-episode second season at the beginning of April, with the first episode grossing 8.3 million viewers. Season two cast members include Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Jack Gleeson and Alfie Allen.
