The Global Film Initiative has announced the five film-makers awarded production funding during the winter granting cycle.

The projects were selected from a group of 68 applicants from 34 countries. Grant recipients were selected for their artistic excellence, accomplished storytelling and cultural perspective on daily life around the world.

The funds are used to subsidse post-production costs such as laboratory and sound mixing fees, and access to advanced editing systems.

The projects are: Miss Lovely (India) by Ashim Ahluwalia; Ninah’s Dowry (Cameroon) by Victor Viyuoh; Red Princesses (Princesas Rojas) (Costa Rica) by Laura Astorga Carrera; Shadows And Faces (Golgeler Ve Suretler), (Turkey) by Dervis Zaim; and Tramp (Trampas) (Mexico) by Eduardo Villanueva Jimenez.

“These projects represent a new level of talent and vision that is unafraid to take risks, both creatively and culturally,” Susan Weeks Coulter, board Chair of the Global Film Initiative, said. “They are accomplished, insightful and daring, and we look forward to their success.”
