Graham King returns to Warner Bros
The Oscar winning producer has signed an exclusive first-look deal for one year with his frequent studio partner.
The move comes less than a year after King’s Hugo, which Martin Scorsese directed and Paramount released, lost money and forced the producer to reconsider his GK Films strategy. Prior to that Sony had released The Tourist, another film that performed below expectations.
The deal with Warner Bros includes Jersey Boys, which is released from King’s previous four-film deal with Sony.
King served as executive producer on Argo, the Iranian hostage crisis thriller directed by Ben Affleck that premiered in Toronto to universal acclaim and is on course to become a heavyweight awards contender. King produced Affleck’s previous directorial outing, The Town.
Warner Bros will release Argo in the US on Oct 12.

Tourist performed below expectations domestically. International was a surprisingly robust $210m, ahead of Salt, Wanted, Knight & Day and other comparable titles.
