The British producer is directing from a script by Geoffrey Gunn.

The Hide producer Christopher Granier-Deferre is making his directorial debut with Le Weekend, a black comedy written by Geoffrey Gunn.

The History Boys actor Jamie Parker stars alongside rising French actor Pierre Perrier and British newcomer Kirsty Oswald.

The film centres around two reckless romantics on a doomed weekend in Normandy who find themselves sharing their idyllic love nest with a disturbed fugitive.

Granier-Deferre is also producing the film, which will be a French-British co-production between his company Poisson Rouge Pictures and Le Weekend Films.

Catherine Vetere is producing with Dominique Boutonnat associate producing.

Shooting is currently underway in Normandy, moving on to Portsmouth and London.

“I’ve had the opportunity of working with many great directors in my career and this is a wonderful opportunity to build on that experience. Taking the step up to director is as daunting as it is exciting but it feels like the right time in my career to be making the move,” Granier-Deferre told Screen.
