Directing duo Bert&Bertie are currently preparing their feature film Lucidity, while shooting commenced on George Isaac’s All Things To All Men. These and other projects have made it onto Screenbase this week.
Lucidity is set in a dystopian near-future London, where a young addict has to go on the hunt for his girlfriend’s killers using other people’s memories. Based on the screenplay by William Simpsom, the sci-fi thriller is produced by Bart Ruspoli and Freddie Hutton-Mills for ICU Films. It will be directed by duo Bert&Bertie [pictured], with principal photography scheduled for February next year. Preston Waters Corporation provided financial backing for the $20m feature and Intandem Films has acquired international sales.
In Germany shooting is underway on André Erkau’s latest production Das Leben Ist Nichts Für Feiglinge (translation: ‘Life Is Not For Cowards’), which stars Wotan Wilke Möhring, Frederick Lau and Christine Schorn among others. Described as a ‘happy film about death’ the black comedy is based on Gernot Gricksch’s novel of the same name. Senator Film Produktion, ARTE, Riva Film and Westdeutscher Rundfunkare jointly producing and Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, DFFF and Nordmedia Fonds provided funding. Senator Film Verleih will release in Germany next summer.
George Isaac has just started shooting All Things To All Men, thriller about a crook who is caught between a maverick police officer and a crime lord, starring Rufus Sewell, Elsa Pataky, Gabriel Byrne, Toby Stephens and Pierre Mascolo. Isaac also wrote the script and produces alongside Pierre Mascolo for Cipher Films.
