Marion Cotillard is to star in the new film from the Dardenne brothers, while Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle has landed a role in an upcoming Christmas drama.

This summer, principal photography will commence on Deux Jours, Une Nuit, a new film directed by Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne. Marion Cotillard will headline the cast as a young woman who has to convince her colleagues to renounce their annual bonuses so she can keep her job. Fabrizio Rongione has also been cast.

The script was written by the Dardenne, who will also produce throught their company Les Films Du Fleuve alongside Denis Freyd for Archipel 35. Wild Bunch has taken on international sales.

Samantha Barks, Susan Boyle, James Cosmo, John Hannah, Sylvester McCoy and Barbara Flynn will star in John Stephenson’s The Christmas Candle, about a sleepy village’s legendary Christmas Candle, which goes missing, prompting the miraculous and the human to collide.

The drama, which has just started shooting, is jointly produced by Big Book Media and Impact Productions with Huw Penallt Jones, Steve Christian, Ivan Dunleavy and Brian Lockhart executive producing. Pinewood Pictures has acquired UK distribution rights.
