New films on Screenbase this week include Absolutely Anything starring Simon Pegg alongside the reunited Monty Pythons team, as well as a new Ari Folman animation based on Anne Frank’s life and diary.

Terry Jones will direct Simon Pegg in the story of a disillusioned schoolteacher who is granted magical powers by aliens, which are voiced by Jones himself alongside Terry Gilliam, John Cleese, and Michael Palin. Robin Williams will also feature.

The comedy is jointly produced by Bill and Ben Productions and Phoenix Film and financed through Absolutely Anything PLC. International sales are handled by GFM Films, which sold several territories at AFM, including Icon for Australia, Svensk (Scandinavia) and Telepool (German-speaking).

Shooting is expected to get underway on March 23 in London.

Anne Frank animation

Ari Folman is currently writing the script for a family driven animation based on the life and diary of Anne Frank. Folman will also direct.

The film will be produced by Israel’s Bridgit Folman Film Gang as well as Belgium’s Entre Chien et Loup and Purple Whale Films. Production is scheduled to start in winter 2014.
