Sin City: A Dame To Kill For was one of the hot market titles in Cannes last summer, when Aldamisa International introduced sales. North American distributor Dimension Films made the casting announcement on Monday [7].

Dimension plans an Oct 4 release in North America. Robert Rodriguez’s Quick Draw Productions, Aldamisa, AR Films, Miramax and Solipsist are the producers.

Shooting is underway at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas. Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and new cast members Dennis Haysbert and Jamie Chung star.

Rodriguez and Frank Miller are co-directing from a screenplay by Miller and William Monahan.

Gordon-Levitt will play Johnny, who is described as “a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game”.

The actor comes off the global hit Looper and is preparing to premiere his feature directorial debut Don Jon’s Addiction at Sundance later this month.
