Nu Image is representing international rights on the action thriller, which commenced principal photography in New Orleans this week [4].
Josh Lucas has joined the cast of Medallion alongside Nicolas Cage. Simon West is directing from a screenplay by David Guggenheim, one of Hollywood’s most in-demand writers whose upcoming credits include Safe House and Exit Strategy.
Medallion stars Cage and Lucas in the story of a bank robber fresh out of prison who has six hours to pay a huge ransom to his former accomplice who has kidnapped his daughter and stashed her in the boot of one of Manhattan’s 12,000 yellow cabs. Malin Akerman also stars.
Jesse Kennedy, Matthew Joynes and Rene Besson are producing and the executive producer roster includes Nu Image’s Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Christina Dubin as well as Cassian Elwes.
Clive Owen was initially cast on the project and Parlay Films had been previously attached to handle international pre-sales
The Guggenheim-scripted Safe House stars Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds and will be released by Universal in February 2012, while the TV movie Exit Strategy is set up at Fox for Ethan Hawke. Summit Entertainment is developing Guggenheim’s police drama Puzzle Palace.
