British screenwriter Julian Fellowes has written the script for a feature adaptation of The Girl On The Landing, a psychological thriller/love story set in London and Scotland.

Robert Jones of Jonescompany Productions will produce the film, which is based on the novel by Paul Torday, whose first novel, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, is currently shooting in London.

The Girl On The Landing is about a young couple whose dull marriage is transformed when the husband is visited by strange hallucinations.

Fellowes and Jones, who previously worked together on Gosford Park, are currently looking to attach a director. Shooting is due to begin in spring 2011.

Jones, whose producing credits include Run Fatboy Run and Dirty Pretty Things, said: “In many ways The Girl on the Landing is a modern take on Jekyll and Hyde, a tale of creeping menace that is profoundly disturbing. It keeps you forever on the edge of your seat.”
