The Exchange CEO Brian O’Shea has confirmed that martial arts icon Tony Jaa and Scott Adkins have joined the action remake.

Stephen Fung directs the film, which as previously announced stars Alain Moussi, Dave Bautista of Guardians Of The Galaxy, former UFC welterweight champion George St Pierre.

Kickboxer stars Moussi as Kurt, a talented martial artist who travels to Thailand to learn the secrets of the Kickboxer to avenge his brother’s death at the hands of Tong Po, played by Bautista.

Jaa (pictured) will play the master Chow who teaches Muay Thai to Kurt. Adkins plays Kurt’s older brother, who gets killed by Po.

“Kickboxer will display a style of acrobatic, rapid-fire martial arts action that Scott Adkins is increasingly becoming synonymous with,” said O’Shea, “Along with Tony Jaa, Kickboxer has compiled a talented cast to push the boundaries of the martial arts form.”

The addition of Adkins and Jaa brings to 20 the number of martial arts disciplines represented on the production.

Apart from wrestling, Batista has formal training in kali, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Moussi is a practitioner of karate, kickboxing, aikido, goshindo, kobudo, Filipino martial arts, sambo, judo, and jiu-jitsu.

St. Pierre practices Kyokushin karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, and wrestling as well as his MMA background.
