EXCLUSIVE: May 2014 shoot for Room 101-Mann Made-Synchronicity production.

Oblivion star Olga Kurylenko will lead the cast of supernatural horror Mara, scheduled to shoot in May 2014.

The Solution Entertainment Group’s Myles Nestel and Room 101’s Steven Schneider, producer on the Paranormal Activity franchise and Insidious, will produce with Mann Made Films’ Scott Mann and James Edward Barker.

UK music video director Clive Tonge will make his feature debut on The Tournament writer Jonathan Frank’s script about a criminal psychologist (Kurylenko) investigating the case of a man who has seemingly been strangled in his sleep by his wife.

As she digs into the mystery of an ancient demon which kills people in their sleep, she experiences the same symptoms as previous victims and spirals into a nightmare battle to save herself and the married couple’s daughter.

Synchronicity Entertainment, The Solution’s genre label, is financing and selling the project at the AFM.

Schneider said: “Synchronicity and Mann Made Films are the perfect combination for Mara - innovative, vigorous and exciting companies in the independent sector. Clive is a phenomenal talent and horror fans will embrace him as widely as they did James Wan and, with Olga starring, we’re onto another hit franchise.”

“Mara promises huge potential with the star power of Olga Kurylenko and up-and-coming horror director Clive Tonge at the helm. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Schneider in the launch of this new Insidious-type film franchise,” added Nestel.

Quantum Of Solace and Oblivion star Kurylenko’s upcoming credits include Vampire Academy and November Man. She is currently in production on The Water Diviner with Russell Crowe. She is repped by CAA and Tavistock Wood.

Synchronicity’s AFM slate also includes Cooties, God Only Knows and Gravy.
