The studios have announced their fourth collaboration Kubo And The Two Strings, featuring the voices of Matthew McConaughey, Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara and Ralph Fiennes.

Brenda Vaccaro and Game Of Thrones’ Art Parkinson in the title role round out the principal cast on the story that Laika president and CEO Travis Knight will direct.

Marc Haimes and Chris Butler co-wrote the screenplay about a villager who embarks on a quest to find the magical suit of armour worn by his legendary samurai father and protect earth.

Production takes place at Laika’s Oregon studios. Knight also produces Kubo And The Two Strings with Arianne Sutner.

Focus has a set an August 19 2016 wide release while Universal Pictures International will distribute across the rest of the world.

Focus released Laika’s The Boxtrolls in late September and the film has grossed $50m in the US and $107m worldwide.
