Lakeshore Entertainment has acquired film rights to the four-volume graphic novel series The Sword.

Jonathan and Joshua Luna wrote the series of books about a young paraplegic who discovers a sword that restores her ability to walk and grants her special powers as she embarks on a mission to avenge her slain family.

Lakeshore executives anticipate a start of production on the first instalment later this year and Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi will produce.

CAA represents the Luna Brothers and graphic novel rights to The Sword.

Lakeshore’s upcoming film I, Frankenstein will be released in September.
