US filmmaker Brandon Fowler directs the horror film which began principal photography in March and has already completed major sequences on Lake Peipus in Estonia and several locations in Latvia.

Hybrid Vigor is scheduled to complete shooting later this year once all the filmmakers have reached their fundraising target. The strategy includes outreach to the Twitter fanbase.

Latvian lead Velta Buka makes her feature film debut alongside Jevgenija Mirosnicenko and Aleksandr Ivanov. Fowler wrote the screenplay and produces.

Hybrid Vigor takes place during Soviet rule and contemporary times. Plot points remain under wraps.

“We are at the beginning of what will be an independent filmmaking renaissance period,” Fowler said. “Crowfunding / crowdinvesting coupled with open access social media sites and affordable, professional quality cameras are going to empower a whole new generation of indie filmmakers.”
