Spanish actor-producer Luis Tosar is set to work on a comedy-drama called Los Fenomenos through his production company ZircoZine.

Alfonso Zarauza will direct and co-write the film about a group of builders who lose their jobs and decide to construct a special new building.

Tosar’s ZircoZine will co-produce the project alongside Galician companies Tic Tac Productions and Maruxina Filmes. Shooting is expected to take place in Galicia next year, which is proving a popular region for productions due to its lucrative co-production incentives.

“We are looking to have a major Spanish cast for the project and have already secured funds from the Galician government to shoot in the region,” Fernanda Del Nido, head of Tic Tac Productions, told ScreenDaily.

Miami Vice actor Luis Tosar is on a roll at the moment, starring in all three Spanish films that have been put forward as preliminary contenders for the foreign-language Oscar: Iciar Bollain’s Even The Rain co-starring Gael Garcia Bernal; box office hit Cell 211 alongside rising star Alberto Ammann; and Andrucha Waddington’s romantic drama Lope, also starring Ammann.

Tosar also starred in Zarauza’s directorial debut La Noche Que Dejo De Llover (2008), a drama about a Spanish philosopher who falls for a Russian woman.
