Margate House Films’ father-and-son team of Conor Allyn and Rob Allyn are financing the $21.5m tale of political intrigue set in Indonesia.
Rourke and Lutz, who incidentally will be seen together next month when The Immortals goes on wide release, star in the story about a mysterious American who teams up with a Muslim policeman on the trail of a new breed of terrorist in Southeast Asia.
Shooting in Indonesia kicked off on Sept 22 and is scheduled to run until Nov 13. Author, businessman and former political consultant Rob Allyn is the lead producer alongside his son, director and co-writer Conor Allyn, while Mark Williams and Ryan Daly of Zero Gravity Management serve as executive producers.
Conor Allyn wrote the Indonesian war trilogy Red And White, Blood Of Eagles and Hearts Of Freedom, serving as director on the last two.
Margate House’s investors include Cinemark Theaters chairman Lee Roy Mitchell, former Blockbuster and 7-Eleven CEO Jim Keyes and business and industry figures from Texas, California, Washington, DC and Asia. The company plans to make studio-level productions for a price in strategic locations like Indonesia.
Next up for the financier is White Rajah, a historical action epic about British adventurer Sir James Brookes who become king of Borneo in the 1840s.
