The studio struck a deal with rights holder Classic Media and will adapt into a live-action family adventure.

Since Martin Handford’s first book, Where’s Waldo?, was published in 1987 the brand has gone on to sell more than 55m books worldwide to date.

“We are thrilled to be bringing the search for Waldo to the big screen,” MGM’s president of motion picture group Jonathan Glickman said. “Along with our partners at Classic Media, we look forward to making a worldwide adventure that will appeal to Where’s Waldo? fans of all ages.”

“Waldo is the most searched-for character in the world,” Classic Media co-CEO Eric Ellenbogen said. “With thanks to MGM, fans everywhere will find Waldo in movie theatres with his motion picture debut.”
