The British veteran takes his place on Summit Entertainment’s supernatural action film The Last Witch Hunter alongside Vin Diesel and Rose Leslie. Lionsgate International handles sales outside North America.

Breck Eisner will direct from a script re-written by Gods Of Egypt collaborators Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama based on a pitch by Cory Goodman. D W Harper and Melisa Wallack also worked on the script.

Mark Canton, Bernie Goldmann and Diesel are producing and Samantha Vincent of One Race and Adam Goldworm serve as executive producers.

The Last Witch Hunter tells of an immortal witch hunter who teams up with his  natural enemy, a female witch, to stop the covens of New York from unleashing a plague on humanity.

Caine recently wrapped shooting The Youth for Paolo Sorrentino opposite Harvey Keitel and Rachel Weisz.

He recently starred in Summit’s global hit Now You See Me and will next be seen in Matthew Vaughn’s The Secret Service and Interstellar for longtime collaborator Christopher Nolan.

Co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Erik Feig, Summit Entertainment’s president of production Geoff Shaevitz and Lionsgate’s vp of production and development Matthew Janzen oversee the project for the studio.
