Vamps producer Molly Hassell has assembled a strong young ensemble for rom-com The Giant Mechanical Man, set to commence production in Detroit later this month.

Jenna Fischer, Topher Grace, Malin Akerman and Chris Messina will star in the story about a zoo worker who falls for a street performer.

Fischer is also producing alongside Hassell, Michael Nardelli and Brent Stiefel. Lee Kirk, who comes from a theatre background and recently made the short The Man Who Invented The Moon, will direct from his own screenplay.

“There are so many great projects out there which never make it to the silver screen,” Hassell said. “We’re thrilled that this indie film, which is a completely unique and interesting story gets to be told.”

Michael Cowan of UK-based Stealth Media is handling international rights and WME Independent packaged the talent and represents North America.
